For our founder, Ebony Marijai (pronounced Mar-jay), navigating the world has often meant gently but firmly correcting those who mispronounce her name. But a name should never be shrunk or altered for the comfort of others—it is meant to be spoken with the respect it deserves.

MARIJAI—Ebony's given middle name—was chosen as the heart of this fragrance house for that very reason. It is a celebration of identity. It is a love letter to Black women, and a warm embrace to everyone in our beautifully diverse community who has ever had to demand the space to be exactly who they are.
